General Information
HOPE meets in the La Crosse area, serving homeschooling families with students in middle school and high school (grades 7-12) starting Fall 2025.
- Classes are held on Thursdays.
- NEW: Onalaska Church of Christ will be hosting us for the 2025-2026 school year.
- There are five 60 minute periods on Thursdays, beginning at 8:15 a.m.
- There are 2 semesters, each running 15 weeks
- The tuition cost (not including the supply fee) for most classes is $100 per course for the full year.
- Tuition is due upon class enrollment but must be received no later than 1 week prior to starting date.
Class Descriptions
Middle School Science: Physical World
Science classes will have both lecture and lab components. Science classes will additional supply cost to be communicated at registration.
In Exploring Creation with Physical Science, 4th Edition, students will explore the science of God’s physical laws of creation as they study chemistry, physics, earth science, and science research concepts. Students will complete labs and hands-on projects throughout the course for an immersive learning experience with practical application.
High School Science: Physics (STUDY GROUP ONLY)
Due to low response, we are adjusting to offer a study group session for Physics. We will provide a space to discuss material and conduct experiments in a group environment. This will be primarily student led with the exciting addition that twice-monthly we will have a Physics professor from Viterbo who will be coming to answer questions and help review information covered in materials.
Apologia’s award-winning Exploring Creation with Physics Textbook, 2nd Edition, is part of Apologia’s award-winning science curriculum. It is designed to be completed in high school and is a college-prep level course. Students who take this course need to have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry, and have a basic understanding of the sine, cosine, and tangent definitions.
Spanish
Join us as we explore the communication and culture of the spanish language. WIth the Abeka Spanish as a framework, we will be focusing on conversation aspects of Spanish.
French
French class for high school or middle school students. We will focus on the conversational side of French utilizing Speaking French with Miss Mason and Francois.
History
We will be working through the Notgrass history. This is a wonderful literature forward approach to exploring history. We will read, discuss and learn together utilizing the Notgrass "From Adam to Us". We intend to cycle this curriculum from year to year - jump in and join us! We are offering one section for both Middle School and High School.
Watercolors
Let's paint! We will be exploring the world of watercolors. Additional supply cost for this class; will be communicated prior to class registration. More information to come. (SPRING CLASS ONLY)
Level A Writing: IEW
IEW 1A is an introductory level using the IEW system of writing. Come join us and learn how to step up your game with your writing skills! Families will purchase the curriculum from IEW which includes video teaching sessions. Classtime will be used to review papers and discuss the homework completed at home. Fun fact: the IEW website allows families to preview the first two weeks of curriculum before buying!
Advanced Writing: Lost Tools of Writing
This course is for those students who have previous learning experience with the IEW system of writing. Families will purchase the curriculum from IEW which includes video teaching sessions. Classtime will be used to review papers and discuss the homework completed at home. Specific Level TBD
Math Games
Want to strengthen your math skills anhave fun with your friends? Join Math Skills! This is a lighter class that will have one final class project but majority of time will be spent playing math games together on Thursdays. No Curriculum for this course.
